THIS WEEK’S THOUGHTS

ONCE COMMITTED – DO IT.  DO NOT WELSH ON YOUR COMMITMENTS. BUT…BEFORE YOU COMMIT…TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND LEARN TO SAY NO!

In January we decided on all the things that we should/ would/will do! But it is also important – if not more so …That’s right, focusing on priorities is just as much about DECIDING NOT TO DO SOMETHING as it is to do something, to take action!

IN THE ONE THING (great BOOK) Gary Keller makes the point that often, when you make a commitment to say yes, you are in fact saying no to many others. There’s no way around it. If you want to accomplish something big, you can’t let a lot of other less-significant things get your dominoes out of line.

LEARN TO SAY NO

“No” has to be a big part of your vocabulary. When you say yes to focusing on your ONE Thingyou have to say no over and over again to keep that focus intact.

Keller: “Many people have problems saying no, whether it’s at work, school, church or home. With a no comes guilt, a feeling of selfishness and fear that others will see a whole slew of negative connotations behind it. We feel like we’re letting people down because we’re putting our priorities first. But fear of saying no is something you’re going to have to overcome if you want to be committed to your goals.”

SAYING YES TOO MUCH CAN ALSO CAUSE STRESS.

The feeling of being pulled in a lot of directionsnever having enough downtime and not accomplishing your own goals will ultimately make you mentally, emotionally and physically burned out. The Mayo Clinic suggests using what they call the yes-to-stress ratio to determine if committing to something is going to overextend you and ultimately lead to stress.

THINGS NOT TO DO IN 2018 — ANALYZE AND DECIDE:

  • Say yes to things because you feel bad for saying no.
  • Allow yourself to become overworked.
  • Let your health slip by ignoring doctors, exercise and healthy eating.
  • Forgo sleep to try to fit everything in.
  • Sacrifice time with loved ones.
  • Spend time with negative people.
  • Stay in unproductive environments when it’s time to focus on your ONE Thing

REMEMBER, SAYING NO IS GOING TO BECOME A REGULAR THING IF YOU WANT TO SAY YES TO BIG SUCCESS.

So, make your business plan…all the things you will DO and COMMIT to do. Then follow it u with all the things you commit that you will NOT do!!! Outlining what you won’t do upfront makes saying no a lot easier.

Put a sign on your visor: Before I decide to say YES, I will take a deep breath. If – deep down – I really want to say no…I WILL SAY NO…with kindness…but firmly!

Next Action Plan Meeting is Monday, February 12th at 5:30 (Alpen House before the monthly meeting).Action plan meetings are the foundation of your REAG membership. At these informal meetings, there are no wrong answers. Groups of approximately 10 members share their goals and develop specific 3- day “action plans” to bring them to reality. Earl Nightingale said, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal”. At the action plan meetings, we celebrate small successes and acknowledge everyone’s progress. The idea is to keep focused on a monthly basis and get into action. It’s all part of the process of “growing into your future best”. Sign up today!

Take a look at your own private member section. Create your own team, post your deals with photos, and respond to other deals directly with the posting member. Use it! We developed it with YOU in mind. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.

4) Don’t forget to use the DEALS section

You will find it on our website at https://www.reag.ca/forum/hot-deals/ as a place to post for your deals. If you haven’t used it, TRY IT! It is so simple to submit. You are able to include photos of the property as well as all the details directly to other REAG members.

5) SUBMIT YOUR GOOD DEALS TO OZZIE AND RALPH

Ozzie is always looking for great deals to be featured potentially on Michael Campbell’s CKNW Radio Show and its free. You get exposure to thousands of investors! Send your deals to Ozzie no later than Thursday night for inclusion in the following week.
